Second Life becomes arena for promotion of education

“Second Life offers virtual classrooms for major colleges and universities,  including the University of Florida, Princeton, Rice University, University of Derby (UK), Vassar College, the Open University (UK), Harvard, INSEAD, VU university of Amsterdam (Holland), TU Delft (Holland) came recently on Second life. ” (http://www.eurogates.nl/en_european_news_education/id/816/)

Since we are doing a project on Second Life and how to use it to promote Temple University, I thought this article was appropriate. Second Life offers a lot of possibilities for its users and clients, online education is one of these possibilities. Though the possibility of online education is there I personally feel that at this current time it is not the best of ideas.  Second Life has very little set rules and guidelines and until they can have some set boundaries on laws, I find it will be hard for colleges to have a well structure class room environment on second life.
